This file has been reported to be part of a spyware/malware/trojan. It is likely that the problem you are experiencing is linked directly to the spyware/malware/trojan rather than an actual missing DLL-file and the recommended course of action is to first locate/remove the Malware. We do not recommend downloading this file.

Your first and easiest option is to get a reliable anti-malware software suite to scan your system and clean out any possible infestation. We strongly recommend Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Premium as the current best option on the market.

Malwarebytes Anti –Malware Premium detects and removes rootkits, Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs), Trojans, worms, and other suspicious code that your antivirus won’t detect. Small, light, and compatible with antivirus suites, it’s the anti-malware computer technicians themselves use at home and on the job. Try Malwarebytes, the Leader in Malware Removal

Manual Fix option: (at your own risk)

Are you getting an error message regarding this file at Windows startup?

"There was a problem starting C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Conduit\BackgroundContainer\BackgroundContainer.dll The specific module could not be found"

Conduit develops Browser Tool Bars and the cause of this error message is probably a left over Startup Entry from Conduit that has been removed by your Security Programs.

How to remove the Startup entry: Win XP, VISTA, 7: Press "Windows"-key + "R" to bring up the "Run" dialogue. In "Run" dialogue type "msconfig" and hit Enter Under the tab "Startup", uncheck any boxes relating to these files. Win 8: Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC at the same time to bring up the Task Manager. Under the tab "Start-up", uncheck any boxes relating to these files.
