forgot to mention, got error while trying to install win xp. thought it was dvdrom, or ram, but no it was the disc!

i keep getting this error for a pc game and it kicks me out and tells me 0xc0000005 and when i check it in the event log its an ntdll.dll error but i cant seem to get the game to work ive uninstalled and installed many times, restarted after it installs but nothing its the same error how do i fix it if someone can help please email me a solution or something please

You probably need to reinstall your computer if this file is misssing as it is part of the OS.

I replaced the ntdll.dll file thinking this might repair my problem. but now when I try to get to the recovery console unisng the cd I get Stop:c 0000221 unknown hard error SystemRootSustem32\ntdll.dll

Where is the ntdll.dll that works with Windows Vista? That would be version 6, not 5.1. Why are you failing to disclose that this is .dll file is obsolete?

I have WinXP startup problem. Event log shows source as Application popup: machine check. File name ntdll.dll version 5.1.2600.2180. On sending info to micrsoft I get STATUS_LOG_HARD ERROR with explanation that The program could not load a driver because program user does not have sufficient privilages to access the driver or the drive is missing or corrupt. Any ideas what to do would be appreciated.

Are you guys getting the error:
STOP: c0000221 Unknown Hard Error \\\\SystemRoot\\\\System32\\\\ntdll.dll
If so how did you fix it? I just got this error today after forcing a shut down due to computer freeze. Email me the solution.

The file appears in Windows XP SP2. It is one the Service pack 2 core files.

The version is stated very clearly. (File description: Win32 NTDLL core component, v. 5.1.2600.2180) When a version starts with 5.1, it is stating that it belongs to a release of Windows XP. This file will not work with Windows 98.
