The problem here is actually not in the msvcrt.dll
If you are running windows xp and have dwmapi.dll in your windows/system32 folder, delete it A.S.A.P and the error will go away

for people having problems with access denied errors, just right click the file and under the general tab rename it, for some reason it will let you rename here no problem, then you can put in the new version. hope this helps.

I suspect my msvcrt.dll is corrupt, but the version on this site is way too old. Anyone knows how to get the XP SP3 version?

Also, when I try to copy the msvcrt.dlll file to my System32 folder, i cannot change it because "access is denied" and when I try to change the folder from read-only so i can change it, nothing happens. I can be contacted at nerdly_dood@yahoo.com .

I ran the DLL checker and I get the same error message I get from nearly every program recently: "The procedure entry point_ftol2_sse could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll." and i click OK and the message comes up again and again. Since this comes up when I try to run the DLL checker... there is a big problem!

I had the problem with the file MSVCRT.DLL, I downloaded the file and copied it into a floppy disk, started Windows 98 with system symbol (press F8 at start and select it) then I copied the file A:\copy MSVCRT.DLL c:\Windows\System and that was it.
Hope this helps!

SFC is great, if you are using Windows XP, for Windows 98 it is not an option though.

While I love DLL.COM and the posting of all the dll files, in this instance I would suggest replacing the missing or corrupted Msvcrt.dll and Msvcirt.dll files in the following manner listed at this Microsoft link in the proper manner using SFC (System File Checker).

You are my HERO. Couldn't get my uncle's IE 6 to work properly after reinstalling Windows 98 a million times, but this worked like a charm. You deserve an award. Or a lot of money.

ME is an operating system that you can install the operating system over the old one without losing your files, just like 98. insert the ME disk and run it,,,just make sure you dont repartition your drive.

To whom it may concern,
First, is there a cost for this service. If so, how much?
If not, here is my comment...
I am using my laptop to correspond because my PC is currently inoperable. I keep getting the following message on my PC...Error loading Explorer.exe. You must reinstall Windows ME.
However, when I try, this is the message I get: A required DLL file, C:\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM/MSVCRT.DLL, was not found.
In would really like to salvage my current PC, but am not willing to pour much money into it to do it. What do you suggest? Awaiting your reply. Thank you.
